I’m running a Patreon drive in the month of September! Every Monday, I’m sending out a new short story that I wrote based on suggestions my patrons have made. You can jump in and give me silly, weird, random suggestions at patreon.com/melodytaylor. Two smackers a month is all it takes to join!
If you’ve been enjoying my short stories but a monthly commitment is too much, you can also leave me a one-time tip at buymeacoffee.com/melodytaylor!
I think people think that if they’ve already made suggestions, they shouldn’t offer more. Not true! If you already suggested a word or setting or idea, go ahead and suggest another one or two! No one suggested anything this past week, so I went to a random prompt generator and wrote a flash story based on that. The prompt I got was “He’d had a bad day, and just needed something to make him feel better.”
Thanks so much to all the people on my Patreon already, helping me to pay for things like cover art for new books, business cards, and having a real website! I appreciate you all more than you could ever know!
Please enjoy this week’s short story.
Feel Better
He’d had a bad day and just needed something to make him feel better.
And no one ever made a big deal about the odd runaway kid that never made it home, or the stray bum sleeping under the bushes that suddenly wasn’t cluttering up the park anymore. He always made sure to clean up after himself. It was so much more satisfying than the raw pork brains or cow liver from the butcher he subsisted on, day in and day out.
One, he promised himself. Only one. Then I’ll be done for a little while.
The thought alone already started to cheer him up.
