I didn’t mean to vanish.
The website actually went down for a little while because my bank issued me a new debit card, but used the same number as the previous card, so both my cell phone and the company I use to host this website already had the card number listed on my account and also had it listed as expired, and I couldn’t pay for either one. So no website, no phone. That sucked.
Customer service at both places ran into a script wall when I explained the problem, and couldn’t help me. They just kept repeating that I needed to call my bank and tell them to remove the block. There was no block, I had already checked into that. But when I explained that, the reps on the other end just repeated to call the bank and have them remove the block. So I hung up.
I had to use my husband’s phone to call my bank and get them to send me new cards with new numbers, which was dumb. The lady at the bank was very kind about it, but I couldn’t use my phone or have a website until I got the new cards. So I missed a post.
Then I was out of town with family the next time I had a post scheduled to go up.
Then the next time, we had started getting super busy at work and I just didn’t have time at work to put a pre-written post up, and I didn’t have the brain power to do it once I got home. I tried all week to find time, and just didn’t, and by the end of the week I said, “Fuck it, I’ll put a post up next month like usual.”
This post is a few days late, because when I tried to log in, I was notified that my website service provider was experiencing technical difficulties and to try later. Well, this was the next time I could log on, so here we are.
Welcome back. I hope you missed me.
While I’ve been gone, I’ve been working diligently on edits to In the Dark, and round two of edits on Night Falls, both of which I’m hoping to release sometime this year. As you might imagine, struggling to get a post up on my website means my life has been a tad chaotic, so neither of those tasks are going according to plan. I’m still making progress, slow as it may be.
I’ve also been listening to a great science podcast called Ologies on my commute to and from work, fan-girling over Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s TV version of Good Omens, struggling with my self-worth as an author, and finding good advice about how to up that sense of self-worth. I’m here, living life, doing my best.
I hope you’re out there doing something interesting and having a nice time as much as you can.
Welcome back 😉
Seeing the website go offline was a tiny bit … concerning, but what with the new header I just randomly assumed some sort of redesign or other technical hiccups were going on, tbh. I guess in a sense not entirely wrong.
Good to see that support remains mostly to be there to not actually help anyone fix anything. Lots of crazy stuff happening out in the world already, I don’t think I could deal with an actually functioning support on top of that. That’d surely be a sign of The End.
LOL yes, if support could actually support . . . we’d be doomed.
Thanks! Hopefully no more hiccups.
